The "OCEAN" series is a conceptual photographic work that explores
the complex interrelationships between human activities and the natural environment.
The seascapes, carefully digitally processed to remove artificial objects,
attempt to recreate the primal nature before human intervention.
However, traces of human presence remain at the microparticle level,
suggesting that a return to pure nature is impossible.
The plaster base of each piece incorporates sand from the shooting location,
integrating the digital image with the memory of the physical place.
The intentional unevenness created by burning wooden boards
symbolizes the transformation that civilization imposes on nature,
while the technique of transferring digital images onto plaster expresses the fusion of tradition and the digital age. Within what we perceive as "pure nature,"
there exist invisible traces of human presence that cannot be completely erased.
Each work is named after the actual shooting location, emphasizing the engagement with environments that have specific places and histories.
The OCEAN series blurs the boundaries between the visible and the invisible,
the artificial and the natural, matter and memory,
past and present, providing an opportunity to reconsider our relationship with the environment.
「OCEAN」シリーズは、人間活動と自然環境の複雑な相互関係を探求するコンセプチュアルな作品です。
デジタル処理で人工物を慎重に除去した海の風景は、
人間の介入以前の原初の自然を再現しようとしますが、
微粒子レベルには人間の痕跡が残り続け、
純粋な自然への回帰は不可能であることを示唆しています。
作品の基盤となる漆喰には撮影地の砂が練り込まれ、
デジタルイメージと物理的な場所の記憶が一体化しています。
木板を焼いて生まれる意図的な凹凸は、文明が自然に与える変容を象徴し、
デジタル画像を漆喰に転写する技法は、伝統とデジタル時代の融合を表現しています。
私たちが「純粋な自然」と認識するものの内部には、
目に見えない人間の痕跡が存在し、それらは完全に消し去ることはできません。
各作品には撮影地の実名が付され、具体的な場所と歴史を持つ環境との関わりを強調しています。
OCEANシリーズは、見えるものと見えないもの、
人工と自然、物質と記憶、過去と現在の境界を曖昧にし、
私たちと環境との関係性を再考する機会を提供しているのです。
